Dr. Moore’s doctoral dissertation was entitled “Interests and Ideas: Industrialization and the Making of Early American Trade Policy, 1789-1860,” which explored the impact of the Industrial Revolution on economic development in the United States and how it, in turn, influenced national trade policy. A chapter of the dissertation was awarded the Colonial Dames Award in 2010 as the best graduate level paper from a Michigan based university or college relating to American history before 1800. Another portion was published as an article in 2011 in Essays in Economic & Business History and was awarded the James Soltow Award as best article by a new author. Mr. Steven M. Ranger is a clinical assistant professor in the finance department at Walsh. His primary instructional responsibilities at Walsh include financial statement analysis and computer applications for business and finance. Mr. Ranger has instructed numerous undergraduate and graduate courses for both Finance and Management majors since he joined Walsh in 2001 as an adjunct associate professor.
Mr. Ranger worked in the environmental services field on a full-time basis as both Engineer and Project Manager for 12 years before changing careers and accepting a position as a residential loan officer for a mortgage broker located in southeastern Michigan. It is also essential to Mr. Ranger’s business to be able to gather insight into the financial strengths and weaknesses of Cedar Real Estate’s tenants through the review of their financial statements.
Mr. Ranger’s experiences in environmental engineering and project management have helped him to establish an expertise in capital budgeting and financial forecasting. He continues to keep track of progress and activities in the specialized area of real estate associated with brownfield redevelopment, and he looks forward to blending both his engineering and finance expertise in this field through Cedar Real Estate. Mr. Ranger is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Michigan and has been so for over 20 years.
