F1 International Student Information

Admission on a Student Visa

Any individual seeking admission to Walsh College as an international student on an F-1 Student Visa must meet the general admission requirements for bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree programs and required F1 International Student Packet documents must be received. In addition, these individuals must also meet the following requirements:

  • The online Admissions Application must be submitted along with the non-refundable application fee.
  • All application materials, transcripts, and required F1 international student documents must be received to process an application for admission.
    • Applicants whose education was completed outside of the U.S. must have their international transcripts evaluated for U.S. equivalency and provide documentation of English Language Proficiency (see below).
  • These materials must be received at least eight weeks prior to the first date of the semester for which the applicant is seeking admission.
  • Only upon full admission to Walsh College will the international student advisor/Designated School Official (DSO) issue an I-20.

F1 International Student Documents

F1 International student documents are required to process your application for admission to Walsh College. 

Please read and complete required F1 International Student Documents. You may type in required information, save as PDF file, and upload with your admissions documents. All required documents can be found in the F1 International Student Documents Packet.

International Transcript Evaluation

All international student applicants or applicants whose education was completed outside of the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an approved agency. Please view a list of approved agencies under www.naces.org/members. Walsh College recommends the following agencies:

The agencies will evaluate your past education for the United States educational equivalent. Please request a detailed course-by-course report and have a copy sent directly to Walsh. When we receive an official copy of this report, we will complete an admission evaluation for the program you have chosen.

Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral level applicants whose education was completed outside of the United States must demonstrate proof of English Language Proficiency by submitting one of the following:

  • Duolingo English score of 110; or
  • IELTS score of 6.5; or
  • MELAB score of 80; or
  • Add MET score of 64; or
  • PTE A score of 53; or
  • TOEFL score of 79-80 (internet-based) or 550 written; or
  • Successful completion of Level 112 from ELS Language Centers; or
  • Successful completion of highest level of ESL program from an accredited U.S. institution; or
  • Successful completion of an English composition course from an accredited U.S. institution; or
  • Completion of a college degree from an accredited U.S. institution.

Health Insurance

Health insurance is a requirement for all international F-1 students. Health insurance is to be purchased through Walsh or proof of coverage must be submitted. For information regarding health insurance, please contact the Designated School Official (DSO), Joanna Olejniczak-Caushaj at jolejnic@walshcollege.edu.

Orientation
New F-1 International Students must complete the International Student Orientation. The International Student Advisor (Joanna Olejniczak-Caushaj) will contact students with details on the day and time of the orientation. The orientation usually takes place during the first week of school. Students’ Continuing Attendance I-20 will be handed out upon its completion.
