Walsh College Announces the 2022 DeRoy Testamentary Foundation Scholars
TROY, MICHIGAN – Walsh has announced the 2022 recipients of the DeRoy Testamentary Scholarship, India Piercefield and Devan Roy. The full undergraduate academic scholarship is funded by the DeRoy Testamentary Foundation, named for its founder, renowned philanthropist and community leader Helen L. DeRoy.
Piercefield is a Macomb Community College early transfer student, interested in both accounting and real estate. Piercefield intends to sit for the CPA exam and use her accounting skills to succeed in the real estate industry. Roy is a transfer student from Oakland Community College, currently working full time with the aspiration of utilizing his degree to advance to a finance leadership position.
“Being selected for the DeRoy Testamentary Foundation Scholarship has significantly supported my educational and career goals, allowing me the financial ability and drive to pursue both successfully,” said Piercefield.
“I am extremely grateful to have been chosen for this award, which will allow me to focus strictly on learning. I hope to one day be able to provide a student with the same opportunity,” said Roy.
The DeRoy Testamentary Foundation Scholarship began in 2011 and has benefitted 21 students to date. The DeRoy Testamentary Foundation provides funding support for programs and projects that improve the quality of life and well-being of individuals in metro Detroit.
