Military Veteran and Walsh alumnus, Fred Lowe was guided to Walsh College through the Veterans Readiness and Employment program (VR&E). This program through the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), recognizes that skills and roles in the military may not directly translate to civilian careers, especially for those affected by disabilities. It offers veterans the opportunity to gain new skills or enhance existing ones to better suit the civilian job market. “Walsh had a lot of prestige behind it and [the VR&E representative] told me Walsh really fits because I only had a year’s worth of time left in my entitlement” he adds, “when I got into Walsh I [saw] that this was the right choice. Every last one of the classes I’ve been in, was relevant to real-world experience.”
