SHRM Curriculum Alignment

The Master of Science in Management Human Resource Concentration is aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) curriculum requirements. MSM-HR concentration students benefit from our unique course design which focuses extensively on the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (BASK). This focus prepares our students for the SHRM certification exam. Candidates for the SHRM-CP certification are not required to hold an HR title and do not need previous HR experience to apply to take the exam. However, a degree from an Academically Aligned program, such as our Master of Science in Management (MSM), is recommended.

Management coursework focuses on building and developing organizational structure for businesses to operate with health and success. Management helps you hone the skills necessary for leading organizations and building capacities for organizational learning and development. Designing and Leading Competitive Organizations examines the strategic decisions necessary to creating an organization’s brand for a competitive advantage. You’ll learn how to position an organization in local, national, and global environments to achieve business goals. Walsh offers four 11-week courses and year-round registration so you can start your program anytime and see the end goal sooner.

Walsh MSM Admission Requirements:

  • Possess an undergraduate degree or higher from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and U.S. Department of Education (USDE), www.chea.org. Credits completed outside of the United States must be evaluated by an agency that is a member of NACES (www.naces.org).
  • A cumulative grade point average of a 2.750 or better on a 4.000 scale.
    • Individuals with a cumulative grade point average lower than 2.750, but not below 2.000, will be considered for provisional admission
  • A recommended minimum of two years professional work experience.
  • No GMAT or GRE required.

Already Certified?

If you have a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification, you will receive advanced standing credit for MGT 555, Global Human Resource Management.
