Faculty Awards: Fulbright Scholars

The Walsh College faculty includes Fulbright Scholars. Each of these Ph.D. professors have demonstrated their commitment to excellence in education and have chosen to share their knowledge and experience with the Walsh community. Founded by Senator J. William Fulbright in 1946, the Fulbright program offers scholarship opportunities for research, studying and teaching in more than 140 countries worldwide, designed to facilitate cultural exchange through direct interaction and engagement.

This flagship international educational grant program is sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The Fulbright experience enables Walsh faculty to share their knowledge with educational communities throughout the world, and to share those cultural experience in the Walsh classrooms with our students.

Here is a listing of Walsh’s Fulbright Scholars:

Susan J. Gilkey, Ph.D.

Dr. Gilkey is a clinical associate professor, Management. She returned to Walsh in 2014 after completing a Fulbright Specialist scholarship working overseas on a Fulbright project in Cross-Cultural Leadership Behaviors at the Ecole de Gouvernance et d’Economie in Rabat, Morocco. Dr. Gilkey currently teaches classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including ethics, leadership, strategic management, foundations of international business, and production and operations management.

Michael P. Levens, Ph.D.

Dr. Levens completed a Fulbright Specialist Fellowship in Riga, Latvia, at the University College of Economics and Culture in 2013, focusing on academic research methods in business and social sciences for graduate students. Dr. Levens was named to the Fulbright Specialist Roster in 2010 for a five-year term, and he was also named a Fulbright Peer Reviewer. Currently, Dr. Levens is professor and chair, Marketing, and author of the textbook Marketing: Defined, Explained, Applied.

Sheila Ronis, Ph.D.

Dr. Ronis studied mechanisms to infuse foresight into the Executive Office of the President of the United States by completing a Fulbright Specialist Program in Singapore in 2011 that examined their Center for Strategic Futures in the Prime Minister’s office, considered one of the best strategic development capabilities in the world. Currently, Dr. Ronis serves as a professor of management and also serves as the director of the Center for Complex and Strategic Decisions, with a special term appointment with Argonne National Laboratory University of Chicago.
